Beginning Steps
A client called and was interested in doing a mural of my record album cover paintings. At right is a very rough sample of the kind of sketch we did to show them how a collage of my album cover paintings could look like if the covers were all the same size. I can also do them in different sizes so if you have a favorite I could make some larger to stand out more. The sketch is in the proportion of roughly 8 x 9 feet and would hold 50-56 album covers at about 12" square each.

The client then picked out 55 album covers - some from my online galleries and some that I had not painted yet. I am always happy to do new album cover paintings at no additional charge because I'm always looking to add to my growing portfolio.

I totally encourage you to call me to discuss any of this. I'm open to your suggestions and look forward to working with you on this fun process. I will show you layout ideas for you to think about, show your friends, run by the dog...whatever, so we can kick them back and forth until I do one that you are happy with... and you should feel free to make suggestions to me and move things around or whatever. This is fun for me and I want to make sure that you enjoy the whole process too. I'm very open to your ideas.

On to the final painting
Once I have a final approved layout - album covers, landscape, cosmic art, flowers...whatever the subject matter - there are two ways to do proceed to the final mural.

1: For the example above I can print out images of my album covers as separate pieces of art on flat pieces of canvas and then overpaint and emellish them in my studio and then bring them all out to your location. I would then glue them all up in place on your wall, touch up any flaws, add more swashes of color and do some additional painting and coat the entire wall with a final coating of UV protective varnish. This approach let's you be involved for the whole process - hey its art so it should be fun right?

2: I can do a collage or the final artwork in my studio, get it photographed and scanned and assemble it all in my computer and then get the whole thing printed out like wallpaper on 36" wide rolls of canvas. I would then overpaint and embellish and varnish the final output and ship it out to you for installation with a layout that any competent wall paper guy can follow. Putting up my mural canvas uses standard clear heavy duty wallpaper glue and they get glued up exactly the same way as wallpaper. I never have to leave my studio doing it this way which is too bad because you won't get the thrill of meeting me in person... unless you want to pay extra and I'll come out to your location to supervise the installation.

OR....

Totally hand-painted, one-of-a-kind, customized mural... just for you!
I can do a totally hand-painted, one-of-a-kind, completely custom mural painting for you. The process begins pretty much the same as described above. Once the sketch is approved all the painting is done in my studio on rolls of canvas to fit your wall space. You are sent photos as I go through the process so you can see my progress. When the painting is all done I send you a composite photo of the art pieced together so you can get a close idea of what the finished mural looks like. I then bring the final canvas rolls to your location do the installation and touch up any flaws so it's all perfect and finish it off with a coating of UV protective varnish.

Outdoor and Public Murals
Obviously painting an outdoor mural is a different final process since it has to be painted on location. We love doing public murals that involve the whole community and we have a sort of paint-by-number technique that allows everyone from kids to senior folks to get involved and wield a paint brush. We have had clients who used the mural projects as fund-raisers by getting everyone to donate money to help out with the painting. Several of these were so successfull that they made a profit and had a re-painting event every few years to keep the murals looking new and raise a few bucks in the process.

School Murals
We love working with schools and getting kids involved in our public mural projects - it's fun for everyone and genterates a lot of interest and publicity in the community. Obviously school funding for such projects is always an issue but don't let that stop you from calling us.

Obviously most of these processes are hand-done by me exclusively for you so it ain't cheap. Our prices start at around $2500-4000 for an 8' x 9' space and are scaled up or down for larger or smaller projects. We have done murals as small as 6 feet square and as large as 15' x 100'... and we're always looking for a new challenge.

If you are a corporate client and have an art budget we can certainly work within your budget and do something fabulous so call us and let's talk.

Our payment terms are 1/3 up front, 1/3 upon approval of the final art sketch and the final payment when the art is all done and ready to be delivered.

Thanks for reading this far and I look forward to speaking with you. - Howie Green
