Welcome Cows on Parade 2006 to Boston

Howie Green's "Boston Moosic Cow" Joins the Parade

Rufus sold in the live auction on Sept. 22 at the Boston Marriott Hotel and now resides in a private collection. If anyone knows where it ended up we would appreciate you letting us know. There was a lot of confusion at the end of the auction and we lost track of who purchased Rufus.

Howie Green's "Rufus the Boston Moosic Cow" is an official entry in the Jimmy Fund of Boston's Cows on Parade for 2006. The cow will be on display starting May 18 at the official Cows On Parade kickoff party in City Square Park in Charlestown, MA. Keep your eyes open for the entire parade of as they appear around the Boston area over the next few months. Click here to find out more about the Cows on Parade in Boston Events.

8/4/06: Film maker Joseph McLauchlan filmed Howie for a segement for Current TV with Rufus on location in downtown Boston.

4/20/06: Extending Howie's ongoing series of album cover paintings in a new and unusual direction Rufus contains over 30 album covers by Boston-based bands starting back in the late 1960s with The Lost and Teddy and the Pandas and through to the current scene with the Dresden Dolls and Apollo Sunshine. See the list of bands below and our apologies to anyone we missed. We consulted with several Boston pop music historians and based our selection on various criteria including mostly that the bands had to have actually produced an album. We had to limit our selection to bands and not individual performers. On the tail in gold embossed paint Howie wrote "In tribute to all the musicians over the years who made Boston such a diverse musical scene".

Bands included on Rufus - in no particular order:
  • Aerosmith
  • Willie Alexander and the Boom Boom Band
