These record album covers and CD covers are pop art paintings from an ongoing series of mine. I did the first set of paintings of 101 record album covers and CD covers for a gallery show and I had so much fun doing them that I'm continuing the series which now numbers close to 300.
With the advent of digital music and the whole idea of a physical cd/album and cover rapidly disappearing I feel that an important visual link between the artists and the audience has been lost. Howie Green's "Rufus the Boston Moosic Cow", an official entry Cow Parade Boston, sold at auction to benefit the Jimmy Fund. 
Extending Howie's ongoing series of album cover paintings in an unusual new direction Rufus contains 39 album covers by Boston-based bands. The painted cow was sold at auction to benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and their Jimmy fund. For lots more photos of Rufus and a complete list of the bands click here...
