Jess Petersen
March 27, 1944 to May 21, 2008

Jess was my "Personal Manager" for many years, but he was quite a bit more than that. He was sort of like a third parent. When I was a teenager, my friends used to tease me that I was the only person they knew who had, "a mother, a father and a Jess".

And well, now I don't have him anymore.

He led a very interesting life, (to put it mildly!), and I really had trouble getting everything he did into an obituary. To read Jess's biography click here

If anyone feels like flying to France, I'll see you there! (And I really am doing my birthday party in Paris!!) Seriously, if you're going to be in France the first couple of weeks in August, let us know and we'll direct you to the party.

And on the way home Alison will be stopping off in Maine for 4 more shows at the Admiral's Inn on August 21, 22, 23 & 24, 2014. (See above) Same venue, same links, tickets on sale now.

There, how's THAT for a schedule? Makes you tired just reading it, no? ("You think you're tired, says Alison, just try dragging all of that luggage around France for a month! How do you think I feel?!?!")

(OK, calm down, relax, throw a chicken at a guy or something! Sheesh!)

Rumour Control

Portland, Oregon - She has not been there in years, but we love Portland. Rumor only. But keep your eyes on later this fall, and we'll see.

Veruca Salt is coming to town. No, not the band. THE Veruca Salt AKA actress Julie Dawn Cole, of the original "Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory". Bitches gathering, maybe? Watching for more info on this one. Still only a rumor at this point. Throw Out the Anchor – Rumor has it that this pearly gem from Alison's past may soon be available on DVD in France! Where hopefully they will think it's "art". Rumor only, no further news to report.

Hey, Texas! Want some Nellie? How's the weather in Austin in the spring, anyway? Since this is The Year of The Prairie, it seems that a certain TV show may be having a few LHOTP alums in to visit. Only rumor at this point and I couldn't tell you even if I did know. Which I don't. (No, really!)

Miscellaneous

Well, let's see. Oh, I know, here's a little gem I just ran across: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9AYEPcuLYM I kind of liked it, myself!

Remember I told you that Alison had a great time in Sedona? Well check this out: http://youtu.be/pmMtAxnvne0 This is an interview show on Sedona Now hosted by Glenn Scarpelli, and Alison will explain how she got to be in Sedona at the Film Festival in the first place, and how much she loves Sedona.

Remember this from last month?

Little House on the Prairie Season One - The re-mastered edition of "Little House on the Prairie" Season 1 will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on March 25. This includes all 24 season one episodes complete, uncut and re-mastered, the full-length pilot movie, screen test for Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert, and part one of a six-part documentary: "The Little House Phenomenon: Part One- A Place in Television History". This documentary series is being done by film maker and film historian Gary Leva (www.levafilmworks.com). Gary has produced and directed scores of award-winning documentaries over the years, including documentaries on the work of George Lucas, Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood, and Stanley Kubrick. This set will be available for $38.99 (Blu-ray) or $29.98 (DVD).

Well, this month we have news. This month they are starting the cast interviews for the next part of that documentary. Who are they interviewing, you ask? Well, can't say. (But there are a lot of them!)

Wait!! I have REAL news! We have a new address for Alison's website. This one is really easy to remember, too. So, what do I call you at the end of each newsletter? (This is a test. Do you read the whole thing? There are some people who have never even read as far as Sock Monkey!) Yep, Bonnet Heads! So now you can go to www.BonnetHeads.com and connect right to Alison's website. Never to be forgotten!

And just for the record, Heeere's Amy is still available on I-Tunes: click here.

Prairie Tidbits

Jason Bateman (James Cooper Ingalls) - Jason has a very busy year. He has completed work as the lead in the film "The Longest Week", due to be released this year. He has also completed work as the narrator on all 12 episodes of the TV series "Growing Up Fisher". He has completed work on the film "This Is Where I Leave You", due to be released September 12, 2014. "Horrible Bosses 2" is in post-production, and "The Family Fang" is in pre-production. Jason works a lot!

Shannen Doherty (Jenny Wilder) - Shannen has several things in the works now. She has completed work on the film "Bukowski", due to be released this year. "Undateable John" and the TV movie "All I Want For Christmas" are both in post-production, and she is currently filming "Back In The Day" with Danny Glover, predicted to be released in September 2014. Busy girl!

Pamela Roylance (Sarah Reed Carter) - Pam plays Dr. Sheldon in "Still Here", a short film currently in post-production

Tracie Savage (Christy Kennedy) - Tracie plays Alice Hardy in the file "The Bone Garden", which is still listed as being in post-production. Check out the trailer: click here Good job, Tracie! Now, when do you think this one will be released?

The Saga of Sock Monkey (Chapter Twenty-Nine)
Finally, the last day of filming had arrived. Sock Monkey had thought it would be a great adventure, working on a French film with Alison. Well, yes, it was, but it was also a lot of work. She had to scramble for wardrobe, learn last minute script changes (in French!), and survive the bleak accommodations filming on location miles from his beloved Paris. He had learned the meaning of "grip-strength" coffee. Alison took it all in stride, and the shoot was wrapped in a few days. Now they were packing up for the long drive to Paris and their final night in a little hotel near the airport. Sock Monkey was ready to go home. And he realized that he now thought of Alison's house in California as "home". And he wondered what his next adventure would be like . . . . . (To be continued...)

Catahoula News
Well, things are looking up for Catahoula. We just had four of our songs placed in an independent short film called "Highway 15". Check out the trailer: click here Highway 15 just won Best Short Western Film at the Barebones Film Festival. Looking' good! And we're booking our next performance for June. See you then!

There you have it, the fourth Alison Newsletter for 2014, the Official Year of the Prairie!!

As usual (Comme d'habitude), be good bonnet heads, and I'll talk to you next month.

Alison's comedy album "Heeere's Amy!"
- back from the great beyond!

UPROAR Entertainment has re-released the comedy album Alison did back in 1977. It's called "Heeere's Amy!" and is a series of rather bizarre comedy sketches involving the daughter of President Jimmy Carter and her encounters with various idiots around the White House. It stars Alison, her mother and several 1970's comedians who went onto become quite famous....

For an explanation as to how - or for heaven's sake WHY - such a thing came into being, check out the explanation on her Tumblr page: "Heeere's Amy!" the back story

Many fans have tracked this down and bought the old vinyl version on E-Bay. But now, the past has gone digital and you can now download "Heeere's Amy!" to your I-Pod. Now available at UPROAR, Amazon, I-Tunes and all sites that sell downloadable comedy.

Alison's book made Library Journal's BEST BOOKS OF 2010!! The French-language version of Alison's book, "LA PETITE GARCE DANS LA PRAIRIE", was released. (http://www.florentmassot.com) Click here to read more
It may be because of rather than despite a lifetime of being loathed for her onscreen personality that Arngrim is an immensely likable narrator. She hilariously portrays 1970s Hollywood among a family of actorsliving in the Chateau Marmont and making soup from KFC chicken bones. Arngrim has no shame in bowing to the B-list celebrity gods and opens the door to the Little House in order to promote activism for people with HIV and abuse survivors.

THE OLESON MERCHANTILE IS OPEN!

NELLIE SAYS "ORDER THE BOOK, NOW!!!"

- and we don't want to make Nellie angry now boys and girls do we?

Alison's book is now unleashed upon the world and if you can't make it to one of her pesonal appearances to get it autographed you can pre-order online:

Order on Amazon

Order on Barnes and Noble

Order on Borders

Order on IndieBound

Need a personally autographed copy of "Confessions of A Prairie Bitch", but you just CAN'T get near ANY of the book signings?? Fret no more Bonnet-heads! We have a SOLUTION!

  1. Go to the fabulous website for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Walnut Grove, Minnesota.
  2. Click on Shopping Cart, go to WG Related Books & TV Stars' Books, and click on Alison's book (Add To Cart). This will take you to the shopping cart, what is basically an order form.
  3. Look for the box that says "Ordering Instructions". See it? Good. Now type in your request. Tell them you want the book personally autographed to you. You can also request a certain dedication. ("From One Bitch To Another" is quite popular!)
  4. Then just order the books. It will take 2 to 3 weeks, because they then ship the book to Alison and she signs it and sends it back to Walnut Grove. (This will soon be simpler when they update their website!) Or if you don't need a personal dedication, just order an autographed book (found elsewhere on the site) and it will arrive sooner. (And while you're there, check out the authentic Prairie bonnets and dresses!)

AND SPEAKING OF BOOKS - Alison's Mom's Book is now available on Amazon
The Maquinna Line: A Family Saga is set on Vancouver Island from 1871 to 1945, with a nod to the meeting of Captain Cook and Chief Maquinna in 1778. It traces the stories of the five families of varied social standing, including two descendents of Chief Maquinna. In the end, theyre all ordinary people trying to find happiness in the face of intrigue, ambition, misunderstanding and changing social and sexual mores.

A murder, a tryst, a mysterious child. A Victoria aristocrat who obsesses over her Churchill relatives. A repressive Welsh mother with a royalty fixation. A once-carefree Hesquiat girl from Nootka Sound. A dashing Icelandic philanderer. And quiet, steady Julia Godolphin, trying to rise above it all. The lost novel of Norma Macmillan, the Vancouver actress who lived much of her life in New York and Hollywood, is the work of a woman steeped in the American entertainment industry but deeply in love with the history of her native province, which eventually drew her home before her death in 2001.
