Alison as Nellie Oleson

Welcome to our tribute to our buddy Alison Arngrim...better know to those "Little House on the Prairie" fans as the meanest little girl in the West: Nellie Oleson.

Jess Petersen
March 27, 1944 to May 21, 2008

Jess was my "Personal Manager" for many years, but he was quite a bit more than that. He was sort of like a third parent. When I was a teenager, my friends used to tease me that I was the only person they knew who had, "a mother, a father and a Jess".

And well, now I don't have him anymore.

He led a very interesting life, (to put it mildly!), and I really had trouble getting everything he did into an obituary. To read Jess's biography click here

Alison Arngrim presents The Prairie Princess collectible pony by Howie Green - from Trail of the Painted Ponies.

Limited Edition collectible figure. Signed ponies now available.

And... here is the latest from Alison and hubby Bob.

It's snowing! In my driveway! In Tujunga!! (Sigh) It won't last. But it is really cold today.

So, we just got back from Tennessee. Almost didn't make it. (Thank you, American Airlines!) The yearly Christmas visit was wonderful. People are growing up, getting better, getting engaged, graduating, having children, falling down, getting up, recovering, etc, etc. And there were presents!

We got back just in time for Alison to start working on the pilot of "'Life Interrupted" with Mason Reese. This involved Alison, Mason Reese, (the kid from the Underwood Deviled Ham commercials), Erin Murphy, (Tabitha from •Bewtiched•), Dawn Wells, (Mary Ann from "Gilligan•s Island"), Michael Learned, (Olivia Walton from "The Waltons"), Robbie Rist, (Oliver from the "Brady Bunch"), and Brandon Cruz, (from "The Courtship of Eddie's Father"). She had a great time. Can't wait to see the pilot. And it's on IMDB:

So, on to the schedule:

On Thursday, January 15th we're going to a screening of C. P. R., another pilot that Alison is involved with. This one is about a woman who runs a talent agency for ex-child stars. (That would be Alison) And there are various high jinks and hilarity ensues. (Sorry, I'm not even VIP enough to get into this one! I•m sneaking in the back door!)

Then SOMEONE is having a birthday! (I'll let you figure out who.)

On Sunday, February 8st, (Feb. 1st tour is SOLD OUT) there will be the next episode of The Nasty Nellie Oleson Tour of Hollywood at 4:00 PM. This is the pre-Valentine's Day episode, so all bets are off! Anything could happen. For reservations: These tours tend to sell out quickly, so book in advance. (I've heard that these tours are a lot of fun, but I can't go, so I guess I'll never really know.) Hey, take a friend; it's always more fun with a partner!

Then in March, there's France. (Wait, not again!) Alison spends almost more time in France than she does at home! (What do you mean 'almost'?) For more info, check it out at:

In June, Alison is going to The Memphis Film Festival ( ) on June 11 - 13 at Sam's Town Resort in Tunica, Mississippi (just 30 miles south of Memphis). And she will be joined by Charlotte Stewart! (The Memphis Film Festival is in Mississippi. Hmmmm...) More on this as it develops.

Enough with the schedule, already!

Rumour Control

- Does the water really swirl down the drains backwards in Australia?
- Have you ever been attacked by a penguin??
- The French are getting ready to release Alison's film "Throw out the Anchor". Rumour.

Anyone remember Alison's comedy album. "Heeere's Amy"? Still available on I-Tunes:.

Also still available, Prairie Memories, by Patrick Loubatiere. Check it out here:. I hear that several people got these for Christmas. (You know who you are!) And that Alison even autographed a few of them. Just sayin...

Prairie Tidbits

Radames Pera (John Edwards) -• Well, it's not spring, but love is blooming for this Prairie alumnus. Rumor has it that someone has just gotten engaged! OK, it's more than just a rumor. And he's in France right now making plans... Congratulations to our buddy Radames! Happiness for both of you!

Melissa Gilbert (Laura Ingalls) - Just visited Melissa•s excellent website at: The source for everything Melissa. And did you know... Melissa is in a new series on ABC "Secrets and Lies". She plays Lisa Daly, and the premiere is on Sunday, March 1, 2015. Check out some clips: Can't wait to see this one!

Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle) - Just found out that Charlotte is in another film, Jim "A Children's Story". ( ) From IMDB -"Sometimes a hero becomes a legend, and once in a while that legend just happens to be a dog." It is listed as being in pre-production, and Charlotte's character's name is Maude. Way to go, Charlotte! And Charlotte and Alison will be getting together in June at the Memphis Film Festival. Which is in Mississippi? (At least it's not in Egypt!)

Karen Grassle (Caroline Ingalls) - Well, regrettably, we were not able to get to San Francisco in time to see Karen in "77%", at the Tides Theatre. Bummer! But here's a review: Karen, we'll be there for the next one!

The Saga of Sock Monkey (Chapter Thirty-Four)

Sock Monkey had been right when he thought that Walnut Grove would be nothing like Paris. The adventure had begun when they arrived at the airport. Now, Mr. Monkey had done his homework. He had read up on the Little House phenomenon, and had watched a few more episodes of the TV show. When they got to the airport they ran into Miss Beadle, and Baby Carrie (both of her!), and Baby Grace, (both of her too!!! This Little House thing was getting more confusing by the minute), and John Edwards Junior! And when they landed in Minneapolis, the whole gang was there! There was Almanzo, and Mrs. Garvey, and the other school teacher, Eliza Jane! Then the whole troupe got on a bus. They were heading for their hotel, which was in an Indian Casino hours away from Walnut Grove. Sock Monkey wondered about this. "Security", said Alison in response to his question. 'You can never be too careful', she said ominously, nodding towards a strange man everyone called 'Paul'. Sock Monkey looked towards him and said, "so, you come to ALL these events?' Paul just stared stoically ahead, unsmiling. "I need a drink", thought Sock Monkey. He could only imagine what further adventures were in store for him in Walnut Grove.
(To be continued...)

Catahoula News

It seems that Catahoula is at it again. Yes, the band I play in, Catahoula, is coming out to celebrate Pamela•s birthday on January 17th at The 9 on Vine, 1253 Vine Street, Suite 1, Los Angeles, CA 90038 (323-498-5408) Pamela is the lead singer in Catahoula, and will be starting the evening with a solo set where she channels Edith Piaf. (Yes, it's in French!) The show is on Saturday from 5:00 to 10:00 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. ( The 9 on Vine, which used to be The M Bar, had their grand opening on October 15, 2014. Come on out if you're in town, say Happy Birthday to Pamela, and join Alison and I for a fun evening. (And there will be a new Catahoula website before the next newsletter!)

2014, The International Year of the Prairie, is over. Phew!! What a great time we all had! We got to meet several of the people who read the newsletter, Sock Monkey was there to greet his fans, and everyone was pleased. So thank you to everyone who came out to the events, who stood in the rain for hours to meet the cast and get a photo, who were pleasant and helped each other out when there was a need. You are the best!

Oh, by the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

As usual (Comme d'habitude), be good bonnet heads, and I'll talk to you next month.

Alison's comedy album "Heeere's Amy!"
- back from the great beyond!

UPROAR Entertainment has re-released the comedy album Alison did back in 1977. It's called "Heeere's Amy!" and is a series of rather bizarre comedy sketches involving the daughter of President Jimmy Carter and her encounters with various idiots around the White House. It stars Alison, her mother and several 1970's comedians who went onto become quite famous....

For an explanation as to how - or for heaven's sake WHY - such a thing came into being, check out the explanation on her Tumblr page: "Heeere's Amy!" the back story

Many fans have tracked this down and bought the old vinyl version on E-Bay. But now, the past has gone digital and you can now download "Heeere's Amy!" to your I-Pod. Now available at UPROAR, Amazon, I-Tunes and all sites that sell downloadable comedy.

It may be because of rather than despite a lifetime of being loathed for her onscreen personality that Arngrim is an immensely likable narrator. She hilariously portrays 1970s Hollywood among a family of actorsliving in the Chateau Marmont and making soup from KFC chicken bones. Arngrim has no shame in bowing to the B-list celebrity gods and opens the door to the Little House in order to promote activism for people with HIV and abuse survivors.

Alison's book is now unleashed upon the world and if you can't make it to one of her pesonal appearances to get it autographed you can pre-order online:

Order on Amazon

Order on Barnes and Noble

Order on Borders

Order on IndieBound

Need a personally autographed copy of "Confessions of A Prairie Bitch", but you just CAN'T get near ANY of the book signings?? Fret no more Bonnet-heads! We have a SOLUTION!

  1. Go to the fabulous website for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Walnut Grove, Minnesota.
  2. Click on Shopping Cart, go to WG Related Books & TV Stars' Books, and click on Alison's book (Add To Cart). This will take you to the shopping cart, what is basically an order form.
  3. Look for the box that says "Ordering Instructions". See it? Good. Now type in your request. Tell them you want the book personally autographed to you. You can also request a certain dedication. ("From One Bitch To Another" is quite popular!)
  4. Then just order the books. It will take 2 to 3 weeks, because they then ship the book to Alison and she signs it and sends it back to Walnut Grove. (This will soon be simpler when they update their website!) Or if you don't need a personal dedication, just order an autographed book (found elsewhere on the site) and it will arrive sooner. (And while you're there, check out the authentic Prairie bonnets and dresses!)

AND SPEAKING OF BOOKS - Alison's Mom's Book is now available on Amazon
The Maquinna Line: A Family Saga is set on Vancouver Island from 1871 to 1945, with a nod to the meeting of Captain Cook and Chief Maquinna in 1778. It traces the stories of the five families of varied social standing, including two descendents of Chief Maquinna. In the end, theyre all ordinary people trying to find happiness in the face of intrigue, ambition, misunderstanding and changing social and sexual mores.

A murder, a tryst, a mysterious child. A Victoria aristocrat who obsesses over her Churchill relatives. A repressive Welsh mother with a royalty fixation. A once-carefree Hesquiat girl from Nootka Sound. A dashing Icelandic philanderer. And quiet, steady Julia Godolphin, trying to rise above it all. The lost novel of Norma Macmillan, the Vancouver actress who lived much of her life in New York and Hollywood, is the work of a woman steeped in the American entertainment industry but deeply in love with the history of her native province, which eventually drew her home before her death in 2001.
